Porcelain & ceramic tiles
Not all porcelain tiles have the same properties, which means it's important to choose carefully. Porcelain tiles come in a variety of styles, such as wall tile, floor tile and mosaics. These are three of the most popular, and depending on your need, make sure to select the style most adequate to your surface. Ceramic tiles likewise come in two standard styles: glazed and unglazed. Glazed tiles receive a finishing coat of glass-forming minerals that provide a glossy veneer to the material. This makes them resistant to stains, however, higher gloss finishes are more susceptible to scratching, so you want them placed strategically. Unglazed tiles are highly durable and come in a variety of treatments and textures. Without the veneer of the glaze, unglazed tiles are often used outside of the home, in patios and around pools, where their sturdy texture prevents slipping and weathering.
